Family of teen seeks answers after his death

LAKE VILLA, Ill. (WLS) -- The family of a Chicago teen wants answers after what they are calling his mysterious death. Shaquan Allen, 16, died at the Allendale Association Residential Facility in Lake Villa Wednesday night.

A lawyer for the family says two people are in police custody in connection his death, but that have not received a clear answer about what happened.

The facility serves young people with moderate to profound emotional and behavior disabilities.

"He was only 16 years old. I didn't send him there for that, I sent to get help. I didn't want to lose him to the streets," said Willie Mae Allen, his mother.

The residential facility has not responded to ABC7's requests for comment.
