CHICAGO (WLS) -- Ebola is still a major concern around the world. Nearly 5,000 people have died of the disease, and more than 13,000 other cases are confirmed, probable or suspected in the three hardest-hit countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. One of the organizations that is helping fight the disease in those areas is Concern Worldwide. In fact, the non-governmental, international humanitarian organization helps people in underdeveloped countries.
On Nov. 15, the organization is inviting everyone to its annual Thanks for Giving Gala in Chicago. Kevin Grace, host of HGTV's Design Star, is the emcee of the event. He and Mary Ellen Johnston, regional director of Concern Worldwide U.S., came into our ABC 7 Eyewitness News studio to tell us about the organization's work and the event.
