SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) -- Dan Alexander always wanted a treehouse. His dream is now a reality- that guests can rent for $195 a night, or $1,200 a week.

Alexander built the treehouse for his family seven years ago for about $10,000. The luxury treehouse is 15-feet above a waterfall and koi pond in his backyard. The cedar building has a full bed, kitchenette and outdoor shower. He markets it on airbnb.com as a "romantic garden treehouse."
"It's pretty comfortable really, I mean, there's not else that you really need," said Dan Alexander, who owns the treehouse.
"The treehouse itself was comfortable and cosy, and the outdoor shower was fun!" writes guest Charlyn in her review.
His guests are happy, according to the reviews.
"We get really good reviews, so we get a lot of people from Chicago. We get a lot of people from Madison, Wisconsin," Alexander said.
Alexander says his neighbors have no problem with the set-up. But village officials are now considering regulations on the size, height and location of future treehouses in town.. His 8-foot by 14-foot treehouse has the city's zoning committee considering limits to the size and location of future treehouses.
"It's not an outright prohibition of treehouses in Schaumburg," said Julie Fitzgerald, director of community development.
If passed, Schaumburg's regulations would not affect Alexander's tree house. He would be grandfathered in.
