PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Newly-released video of the fatal car crash involving tennis player Venus Williams reveals more detail about the June 9 accident.
Palm Beach Gardens Police obtained the video from a community's surveillance camera.
You can see Williams' vehicle proceeding into an intersection, but she stops as an approaching car turns left in front of her.
Police say Williams had a green light and her stop in the intersection to avoid a collision was legal.
She proceeded after the vehicle passed -- but by that time, the light turned green for oncoming traffic. That's when a vehicle approached from the side, striking Williams' car.
A passenger in that vehicle died in the hospital two weeks later.
Fault for the accident was previously assigned to Williams in a police report and that has not changed at this point. The victim's family is suing her for wrongful death.
