Lake effect snow showers are expected to develop late this evening and especially during the overnight hours. Some light accumulations of generally an inch or less are possible by daybreak, mainly across grassy surfaces. There is a greater chance of travel impacts on Thursday as an area of widespread snow affects the area. Slushy snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected Thursday. It will also become windy on Thursday with west to southwest gusts to 30 to 35 mph. The combination of snow and windy conditions may result in limited visibilities at times. With initially warmer ground conditions and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, confidence remains low in how much snow will accumulate on roadways, but motorists should be alert to the possibility of some slick conditions during the period of greatest snowfall rates later Thursday morning through mid to late afternoon.
