CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police closed Van Buren Street at Wells Street after debris fell from a building in the area. No one was injured.
A high wind advisory expired at 9 a.m. CDT Monday, but the National Weather Service said winds will still be around 30 mph with occasional gusts of 45 mph, especially near Lake Michigan.
At Chicago's lakefront, high waves crashed onto the bike path, flooding parts of the walkway. The National Weather Service issued a Lakeshore Flood Advisory for Cook County in Illinois and Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana until 1 p.m. Chicago time on Tuesday.
Waves could reach between 10 and 14 feet. Flooding will be most likely in the low areas through mid-morning, and anyone using the lakefront trail should be on alert.
High winds were also blamed for blowing over several construction barricades on 18th Street.
