An average Whole Foods Market store is about 40,000 square feet.
Despite its smaller size, Whole Foods said customers will still be able to pick up grab-and-go meals, recipe ingredients and weekly grocery essentials.
The first Whole Foods Market Daily Shops will launch in New York City this year, and the company plans to bring the format to other cities.
