His experience covering political campaigns, elections and conventions has given him an in-depth knowledge of all things political. Prior to joining ABC 7, he was an education reporter and editorial director at NBC 5 in Chicago from 1976-1982. Before working in television, Shaw had been the education editor at the Chicago Sun-Times. Shaw was born in Chicago and grew up in Evanston, Illinois.

"When Andy Shaw came to ABC 7 in 1983 he pursued the political beat with unparalleled passion, intelligence and commitment. We thank Andy for the award winning body of work that is his legacy," Graves said.
