Starting this weekend, a special Coast Guard patrol will be more visible on Lake Michigan in an effort to discourage drinking and boating.
The Coast Guard is partnering with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Chicago police as part of a national anti-boating-and-drinking campaign called "Operation Dry Water."
"We want to make sure everyone is doing things safe, we want you to have fun, but at the same time, we want you to act responsibly," said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer James Strempel.
Monday at 10 p.m.: ABC7's Ben Bradley takes a look at the local alcohol and boating party scene and uncovers a deadly and ongoing concern.
