CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police and the FBI are investigating an incident at a DNC breakfast in Chicago, which sources said involved maggots.
The Fairmont Chicago confirmed the incident happened at a DNC-related breakfast at their hotel Wednesday morning. Delegates are staying at the hotel.
According to Chicago police, several women allegedly entered the hotel at about 6:45 a.m.and began putting "unknown objects" onto tables that held the food. They then left the area, police said.
Sources told ABC7 the women put maggots on the tables.
It wasn't immediately known if any of the delegates consumed the food, but police said one person was treated and released at the scene.
"I was running a few minutes late, so I didn't see what happened, but those who I spoke to said the hotel staff responded extremely quickly," Indiana delegate Bryan Lilienkamp said.
"They cleared everything out and brought out new food."
The hotel released a statement, saying in part, "We can confirm that a group of individuals caused a disruption at a DNC-related breakfast event at our hotel this morning. We are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement. The safety, security, and well-being of our guests and staff are our top priorities."
Along with CPD, the FBI is assisting in the investigation. No arrests have been made.
