People living in the Washington Heights neighborhood are left shaken - after one of their neighbors is shot and killed while inside a home.

"You don't expect to see it, but when you do, it's always something to think about," Neighbor Faith Howard said.

The shooting happened near 101st Street and Aberdeen Street.

Around 4:31 a.m. police said someone outside the house started shooting.

At least one of the bullets hit a37-year-old woman in the chest who was inside a house.

The woman was rushed to a hospital where she died.

The violence left some people living on the block in shock.

"I didn't hear anything, nothing. I don't even know what happened," Neighbor Patricia Fox said.

A group of people who knew the victim had little to say about the incident.

As detectives gathered evidence at the crime scene, some who live in the area said they won't let fear force them from their neighborhood.

"I'm not moving. I trust God," Howard said.

No other injuries were reported. No one was arrested.

Chicago police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
