Investigators say he had been exchanging messages with a student from last November through last month.

There was also evidence of inappropriate physical contact between the two in December.

Schaub has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated criminal sexual abuse and grooming charges, police said.

Schaub was being held in custody at the Will County Jail. He is being released on electronic monitoring on the condition that he not contact the alleged victim or any witnesses, faculty or minors.

Schaub is also not allowed at Neuqua Valley High School during his pretrial release.

The district says it completed a criminal background check into Schaub before hiring him. They are cooperating with police.

"He's distraught with these very serious allegations of which he contends his innocence; he's overwhelmed. He's happy today he's going to be released to fight these charges," lawyer Robert Edelstein said.

Naperville police say it was the school district who alerted investigators.

"In early March, School District 204 received anonymous tip advising that one of their teachers, named Will Schaub, was having inappropriate interactions with at least one female student," Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow said.

Schaub's attorney said the teacher isn't a threat, but beloved and determined to clear his name.

"Mr. Schaub maintains his innocence. He's going to fight these charges with every fiber of his being," Edelstein said. "He does not have any allegations against him at this school or any other school."

Naperville police say, as of now, they are not aware of any other alleged victims.
