Ready to run the ABC 7 Gibbons 5K
CHICAGO (WLS) -- The 22nd Annual ABC 7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk is coming up on Thursday, June 16th in Grant Park. The money raised benefits the Leukemia Research Foundation. The event was created to honor the memory of Jim Gibbons, a 25-year veteran investigative reporter for ABC 7 who succumbed to leukemia in 1994.
Along with running for a great cause, participants can enjoy a party in the park, with after-race food, refreshments and beer, live music, and a "Heroes of Hope Tent" dedicated to honoring patients and survivors. The race will start Live on ABC 7 at 6:26 p.m. ABC 7's Janet Davies returns as the race emcee. You can register online here. Team captains, Susan Munic and Blake Brandwein, joined Eyewitness News Weekend Mornings to talk about their stories fighting Blood Cancers and their excitement for running in the Gibbons 5K.

Admission/ Ticket Prices: Online registration ends June 14. Chip-timed 5K is $40; Fun Run and Walk $35, $25 for kids 12 and under. All registrations $5 more on race day.
Deadline to register: Register online by June 14. Registration day of race from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.
