CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's still time to register to be a part of the 23rd Annual ABC 7 Gibbons 5K Run and 3K Walk. More than 2,000 people will be involved in the after-work run in downtown on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 6:26 p.m. The run raises awareness and supports the work of the Leukemia Research Foundation. The organization is working every day to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndromes, and all blood cancers. The ABC 7 Gibbons Run was created to honor the memory of Jim Gibbons, a 25-year veteran investigative reporter for ABC 7 who succumbed to leukemia in 1994. ABC 7's Janet Davies and Dionne Miller are the event emcees and announce the race start LIVE on ABC 7 at 6:26 p.m. from Grant Park. Carl Alston from the Leukemia Research Foundation joined Eyewitness News to talk about the race the importance of finding a cure.

Admission/ Ticket Prices: $42 run or walk adults $25 children 12 and under run or walk before 5 a.m. Thursday.
After that, price increases to $45 for adults. Child prices stay the same
