CHICAGO (WLS) -- About 150 miles of Chicago streets have been re-paved so far, and the city hopes to re-pave150 more before the end of 2015.

The mayor said the city prioritized funding for paving projects to keep streets as smooth as possible and to try and stay ahead of pothole problems brought on by the freeze and thaw of winter.

In 2014, city departments, private contractors and utilities paved a record 343 miles of roads.
