Alderman Howard Brookins Jr. injured in bike accident, according to Facebook page

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Alderman Howard Brookins Jr. was injured in a bike accident, according to a post on the South Side alderman's Facebook page.

Brookins said he has been hospitalized after he was seriously injured since the accident and will require multiple surgeries. The 21st Ward alderman said his injuries will preclude him from attending ward and neighborhood events for the near future.

Brookins said he is available by phone and email and to contact his office to have a staff member answer questions or attend an event.
