CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago man pleaded guilty to choking and stabbing a flower shop worker in Wicker Park and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Alexander Hampton attacked his victim in February of 2012 at the Asrai Garden flower shop in the 1900-block of North Avenue.

Prosecutors say Hampton choked her until she passed out, and when she woke up, he stabbed her after she opened the cash register and gave him money.

The woman eventually broke away and called police.
