DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- Three children are in custody after being accused of starting a fire Saturday at Algonquin Middle School in north suburban Des Plaines.
Police said a 12-year-old boy and two 13-year-old boys allegedly started the fire with fireworks around 4:30 p.m., sending flames up the building's outer wall. The blaze caused no major inside damage, but damaged the wall, ceiling and some doors.
The damage is estimated to be worth $12,000.
