DAVIE, Fla. -- Florida authorities pulled a body from the Everglades Monday after fisherman discovered alligators feeding on it.
Officials don't think the alligators killed the male victim, whose body appears to have been in the water for quite some time. The cause of death wasn't immediately clear.
Officers managed to shoo the gators away from the body, but the animals lingered nearby as divers and a trapper were called in.
Crews extracted the body, as officers with AR-15 rifles stood ready to shoot any approaching alligators.
The medical examiner will work to determine cause of death.
