Crews recover body of Amer Rustum, 54 from Lake Michigan near Indiana Dunes

PORTER, Ind. (WLS) -- Search crews have located the body of a man who fell overboard from a boat on Lake Michigan near Indiana Dunes State Park, Indiana Department of Natural Resources officials said.

Crews using a remote-control underwater vehicle located the body at about 12:45 p.m. Monday in 12 feet of water. The body was released to the Porter County Coroner's Office, who is assisting Conservation Officers with the investigation.

Amer Rustum, 54, of Willowbrook, Ill., fell off a boat Sunday evening, said Indiana Conservation Officer Shawn Brown. Brown says Rustum was with friends when he fell in about 20 yards from shore in the area about 10 miles east of Gary.
