CHICAGO (WLS) -- A judge has acquitted a Chicago police officer accused of firing his gun to scare a suburban cop of the charges against him.

Gorman admitted he was driving drunk in November of 2012 when a suburban Merrionette Park off-duty officer tried to stop and question him for his erratic driving. He said he fired the shots because he feared for his life.

The judge in the case said the off-duty cop and a friend who was with him behaved aggressively towards Gorman and decided to drop the charges.
