A handful of private schools in the Chicago area are requiring students to undergo mandatory drug testing. An estimated 850 students enrolled at Joliet Catholic Academy will be tested in the first semester beginning this fall. About a quarter of the student population will be randomly re-tested in the second semester.

St. Viator in Arlington Heights and St. Patrick high school in Chicago also perform drug tests on students.
