Big babies may face greater arthritis risk

Several small studies have hinted at link between high birth weight and rheumatoid arthritis. Now, a study in the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, backs the theory.

To investigate further, researchers analyzed the health records of more than 600 women diagnosed with arthritis. The women born weighing more than 10 pounds had almost double the risk of getting the disease compared to those born with an average weight.

Doctors think the kind of nutrition a fetus gets could have something to do with this link.
