Chicago moves ahead with Olympic plan

The Chicago Tribune says a deal to purchase the land is expected to come up at the city council finance committee as early as next week. The price is estimated at about $80 million for most of the 37-acre site.

If the Olympic Village were to be built there, the city could create a new park on a deck over the McCormick Place truck yards as a link to the shoreline.

Chicago is a finalist to host the summer games.
