'Peace Fest' held for Chicago area kids

A new effort to help stop the violence took Chicago area children to the Brookfield Zoo Saturday for the first ever "Peace Fest, which was organized by Cook County Board President Todd Stroger.Saturday's festival was the first of four Saturday events scheduled to take place in July and August to give Cook County kids a safe recreational option, which lessens their risk to street violence.

The kids also got free school immunizations while at the zoo.

Ceasefire leaders, motivational speakers, and community volunteers were also a part of Saturday's event.
