Local Muslims are marking the end of Hajj with prayer and celebration. A service was held Monday in Carol Stream.

Every year millions of Muslims make a pilgrimage to Mecca or Hajj for a spiritual journey that cleanses the soul and wins absolution.

The prayers and holiday that follow are called Eid al-Adha or "festival of the sacrifice." It's celebrated with prayers, small gifts for children, distribution of meat to the needy and social gatherings.
