Earth Hour yields 1-percent drop in power usage

Comed says electricity usage by northern Illinois customers dropped 1 percent during Saturday night's Earth Hour observation.Hundreds of communities throughout the state took part in the power conservation effort. The 1-percent drop amounts to about 100 megawatt hours of electricity. Comed says that's the equivalent of removing 154,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
