Flint pizza delivery man killed

FLINT The victim was 33-year-old Michael Nettles. He was just doing his job -- one that has been dangerous at times here in the city of Flint.

Michael Nettles' Jeep ended up on the corner of Sonny and Sterling on Flint's north side just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Flint police believe he was robbed near a home down the block and after being shot multiple times by the alleged robber, he actually got into his SUV and drove until he could no more.

Nettles worked at the Little Caesars Pizza shop on Welch and Chevrolet.

A co-worker off camera described Nettles as a "nice guy" and a father who had apparently just purchased the Jeep he died in Wednesday.

In December of 2008, a pizza delivery man was critically injured after being shot in the following a delivery on Oklahoma Avenue.

That man -- also a Little Caesars pizza employee -- managed to drive his pickup truck about three and a half blocks away to the corner of Leith and Franklin, where police found him slumped over the wheel.

In May of 2007, a Little Caesars pizza deliveryman after being hit with a wrench grabbed his gun and fired several shots at three men attempting to rob him.

One of them was killed. That deliveryman had a concealed weapons permit and apparently carried a gun for protection.

Online reports indicate he wounded a man in March of 2000 after an alleged robbery, but the victim did not file a police report.

In this case, police say there was a witness.

The investigation is active.
