Bey's attorney smuggles "hit list" from jail

OAKLAND, CA

According to the "Chauncey Bailey Project," Yusef Bey IV's longtime attorney, Lorna Brown, smuggled written communication and materials from Santa Rita jail without the sheriff's department's authorization and delivered it to others on six occasions.

The affidavit says on one of the smuggled documents, witnesses names were highlighted so a hit man would know who he would need to kill so they wouldn't be able to testify at bey's upcoming murder trial.

Investigators were able to foil the plot before it could be carried out.

Brown resigned as Bey's attorney in April, but has not been charged with a crime.

The trial is scheduled to begin on August 2.
