Activists rally for affordable housing

July 7, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Hundreds from neighborhood organizations and labor unions descended on Chicago's City Hall. They urged Mayor Daley and city aldermen to support "Sweet Home Chicago'' ordinance that would tap into the city's tax increment finance revenues.

The proposed ordinance would designate 20 percent of tax increment financing funds toward affordable housing to combat the city's foreclosure crisis.

The City Council's finance and housing and real estate committee is considering the ordinance.
