Survivor's father talks, search on for missing boater

August 8, 2010 (CHICAGO) Irene Rogers was released Sunday afternoon. Another woman on the boat, Kristen Masterson also survived.

An active search continued Sunday for Christopher Gary, 21, who remained missing. He was one of four people on the boat who decided to go swimming early Friday morning. The boat was not anchored and drifted away from them as they swam.

Rogers' father told ABC7 Sunday night that his daughter didn't swim well, and credited Gary's actions for possibly saving her life.

"He was telling her how the breathe, to keep her head above the water," David Rogers said. "He literally is --before hero became a common word-- he gave that type of effort and he displayed that type of character."

Masterson and Rogers were picked up by a fishing boat later Friday morning.

The body of the fourth person, 21-year-old Jamie Shepherd, was found later in the day on Friday.

ABC7 Chicago is told the search for Gary includes sonar-equipped boats, along with divers and a helicopter.
