A Roman Catholic priest who tried to commit suicide after he was accused of sexual assault entered a guilty plea in court Wednesday.

Reverend Alejandro Flores of Shorewood pleaded guilty to charges he sexually assaulted a boy over a five-year period. In exchange for his plea, Flores was sentenced to four years in prison.

When the abuse started, Flores was a seminarian assigned to St. Mary's parish in West Chicago.

In January, Flores jumped from the balcony of a church in Joliet two days after the Joliet archdiocese removed him due to the allegations.
