May 21st Rapture prediction apparently a dud

May 21, 2011

There have been no reports of overly widespread earthquakes or people leaving the planet in greater-than-normal numbers.

Doomsday prophet, evangelist and radio personality Harold Camping, 89, has been warning people that the end is not just near -- it was to occur on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

The time of predicted Rapture was generally reported to be at 6 p.m. local time - local being wherever in the world a person might be.

Over the past few weeks, warnings about the coming Judgment Day have been plastered on billboards and signs.

True believers in the movement pointed to the recent series of devastating natural disasters including the Japan earthquake and tsunami, as well as tornadoes and floods in the U.S., as evidence that the end was nigh.

However, it appears that the world has not come to an end.
