A Chicago doctor was sentenced to four life terms after being convicted of the drug overdose deaths of four patients.

Doctor Paul Volkman was sentenced by a federal judge in Ohio.

Prosecutors say Volkman dispensed more of the painkiller oxycodone than any other doctor in the country from 2003 through 2005 while making weekly trips from Chicago to southern and central Ohio.

Volkman must also forfeit more than $1 million from a bank account.
