Many people get plastic surgery, hoping it will make them look younger. Just how many years can it really erase?

As many as nearly nine years, according to research now published in the journal Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Researchers showed patient photos to a group of 40 medical students and asked them to estimate the ages before surgery and then after surgery.

The more surgery the patients had, the younger their looks were rated.

The authors are hoping the research will offer an objective measure of surgical success and help manage patient expectations.
