All westbound lanes of I-290 were reopened just after midnight Friday night near Pulaski after a car struck and killed a pedestrian on the highway.

Traffic was being diverted to Independence Boulevard.

Witnesses say the man was hit while running across the Eisenhower toward the Blue Line CTA station at Pulaski at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday.

State police said people have been hit in the area in the past while trying to get on trains for free.

That incident was just one of at least three crashes on the Eisenhower Expressway over the weekend. Another happened just after 10 p.m. on the inbound lanes near Morgan.

All lanes were back open Sunday.
