A report published Friday by Chicago's Inspector General showed the city spent nearly $27.5 million to host the 2012 NATO Summitt.

More than half of it, nearly $15 million paid for police overtime.

With federal approval the city used $12.1 million in repurposed federal emergency management funds.

According to the report, the city submitted its expenses to the federal government for reimbursement and received additional contributions from the host committee.

The Inspector General's office also concluded no Chicago taxpayer money was ever used to fund the summit.
