Duarte school lockdown lifted; no gunman found

DUARTE, Calif.

Officials put Duarte High School and Northview Intermediate School on lockdown after a person called the sheriff's department claiming to be a student with a gun at the intermediate school.

The lockdown went into effect around 2 p.m. Faculty and students at both schools had to stay in classrooms until they got the all-clear from authorities around 4:20 p.m. Officials said there was no sign of a gunman.

School would have normally let out around 3 p.m. Parents were told to wait for their children at the Best Buy parking lot off of Mountain and Central avenues.

Once the lockdown was lifted, parents were able to pick up their children normally.
