Ashton Adger, found in dumpster after police chase, faces drug charges

RIVERSIDE, Ill. (WLS) -- Ashton Adger, 23, was found hiding in a dumpster after Riverside police said he led them on a chase.

Investigators said they found Adger passed out in the driver's seat of a vehicle stopped at the intersection of Burlington and Harlem around 1:15 a.m. Monday, and that they could smell marijuana.

When they asked him to get out of the vehicle, Adger allegedly sped off. At one point during the pursuit, officers clocked the vehicle at 96 mph in a 30 mph zone. Adger eventually abandoned the car and ran away.

Police found the suspect covered in trash in a dumpster in the 7300-block of 39th Street in west suburban Lyons. They recovered more than 140 grams of marijuana and $785 from the vehicle.

Adger, of Bellwood, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding police, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and other traffic violations.

At the time of his arrest on Monday, Adger was out on $25,000 bond stemming from felony weapons and drug charges in Champaign, police said.
