New Lenox ATM hands out extra cash

An ATM at a Kmart in southwest suburban New Lenox dispensed an extra $7,600 earlier this year.

Police said the extra money, which was spread over three withdrawals on the same day in March, may have been the result of a faulty gear wheel. Officials did not say if the transactions were made by more than one person.

There is no surveillance video, officials said.
