Valparaiso police investigate attempted bank robbery

VALPARAISO, Ind. (WLS) -- Valaparaiso police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Chase Bank on Dec. 23.

Police say that shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, a man entered the Chase Bank in the 2300-block of Calumet Avenue and presented the bank teller with a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash. When the teller did not produce cash, police say the man took his note and left the bank. At no time did he indicate he had a weapon.

Police are investigating the incident and have released a surveillance photo of the suspect and are asking for the public's help identifying him.
