AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois' second largest city is a step closer to getting its first female police chief.

Aurora's mayor is recommending Commander Kristen Ziman take over as the city's top cop. She was among four internal candidates interviewed.

Ziman was born and raised in Aurora, spending 25 years on the suburb's police force.

The City Council will consider the recommendation at its meeting Tuesday.
