CHICAGO (WLS) -- A baby gorilla was born at Lincoln Park Zoo and visitors will get to see her this weekend.

The newborn Western Lowland Gorilla will join her parents, 25-year-old silverback Kwan and 27-year-old Bahati, in the zoo's Regenstein Center for African Apes. Zoo officials said Kwan is keeping a watchful eye on his new daughter and her mom.

"As with any birth, we are cautiously optimistic about the latest arrival. Bahati is an experienced mother whose maternal instincts are what we would hope to see with a newborn gorilla," said Maureen Leahy, curator of primates.

Lincoln Park Zoo guests will also get to see two female adult gorillas, and two toddler gorillas in the exhibit. The 2-year-old half-sisters, Nayembi and Patty, were born at the zoo in fall of 2012.

Regenstein Center for African Apes is scheduled to re-open to the public at noon on Saturday. Special members will get their first look at 10 a.m. Saturday. The exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. after Feb. 28.
