Boy, 14, killed in Back of the Yards shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 14-year-old boy has died after he was shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Monday night, police said.

Police said the boy heard shots and felt pain while in a vehicle in the 4500-block of S. Ashland around 6:30 p.m. The driver went to a firehouse a block away for help.

The boy was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Police said it is unclear if the victim was the intended target. So far, no arrests have been made.
