Man, 22, fatally shot in Back of the Yards identified

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 22-year-old man fatally shot in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood has been identified.

Alejandro Velazquez-Perez was sitting inside a vehicle near 46th and Paulina shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday when police said someone shot him in the side and leg.

Police said witnesses put him in another vehicle and drove to 44th and Ashland, where they called for help.

Velazquez-Perez, of the 4100-block of South St. Louis Avenue, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
