CHICAGO (WLS) -- It's back to school season, and sometimes that stress can lead students to develop eating disorders.
More than 30 million people in the U.S. will suffer from an eating disorder. Up to 95 percent of eating disorders develop in young people between the ages of 12-25. Life-changing events, like the start of the new school year or navigating campus life, can trigger an eating disorder in those already predisposed to the condition or even exacerbate an existing one.
Ellen Astrachan-Fletcher, PhD, CEDS, Executive Clinical Director at the Eating Recovery Center in Chicago, joined ABC 7 to talk about the warning signs parents should watch for in their students.
