Goddard students collect, donate books for National Reading Day

CHICAGO (WLS) -- In honor of National Reading Day, some children from the Goddard schools got an early lesson in giving back.

Pre-school students collected more than 25,000 new and used books.

The students delivered them Friday to Bernie's Book Bank in suburban Lake Forest. The books will be given to at-risk children across the Chicago area.

The Goddard school says it tries to teach students the importance of giving back to the community and the importance of literacy.
