Bicyclist struck by train on Southwest Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A male bicyclist is in critical condition after he was struck Sunday evening by a train on Chicago's Southwest Side, according to family members.

The man, believed to be in his mid-50s, was hit just after 9 p.m. near South Narragansett and West 59th in the city's Garfield Ridge neighborhood, just west of Midway Airport.

A witness said they could hear the train's horn and brakes as it approached the bicyclist.
