CHICAGO (WLS) -- CTA Blue Line service experienced "significant" delays during the Monday evening rush hour.

The CTA said O'Hare-bound Blue Line trains were operating with delays due to mechanical problems on a train near Austin. Some trains ran express to close gaps.

During the morning rush hour, Blue Line service was disrupted by debris on the tracks.

Service was temporarily halted around 8 a.m. Monday after a tire flew onto the tracks after a nearby car crash. By 9:30 a.m., Blue Line trains were operating with residual delays.

Previously, trains were operating in two sections - between O'Hare and Harlem and between Jefferson Park and Forest Park. Shuttle buses provided connecting service between the Harlem and Jefferson Park stops.
