Man protesting Target bathroom policy leads to 'active shooter' call to Bradley 911

BRADLEY, Ill. (WLS) -- Bradley police say they were called to a Target store Monday afternoon about an active shooter, but no weapon was found.

Police said 39-year-old Michael Merichko was taken into custody after the 1 p.m. emergency call and charged with disorderly conduct. Police say he caused a disturbance while protesting Target's transgender bathroom policy.

Police said Merichko did not threaten to shoot anyone, and they are investigating how the "active shooter" call came about.

Police say no one was injured.

The store is located at 1615 N. State Route 50.

Police said ''the scene is secured'' less than a half hour after the call.
